Nature Casa
Discover a Learning Experience Rooted in Nature and Montessori Principles
The Nature Casa program offers children aged 30 months to 6 years an immersive and nurturing environment where outdoor exploration meets Montessori-inspired learning. Through this program, children engage with the natural world daily, fostering their curiosity, independence, and creativity while developing essential life skills in a supportive and engaging setting. Our educators emphasize the importance of Seasonal Rhythms, Hands-on activities, Music, French, Weekly Hikes and Community connections to create a truly enriching experience.
“This is such a special place and a true childhood experience for my child. He loves being outdoors combined with the balance of the routine of the beautiful Montessori indoor classroom. The loving kindness and relationships that the teachers cultivate with every student are unique and contribute to my child’s love of learning and sense of community. My child has space and time to self-regulate and practice self-help skills, which supports his independence and confidence. I wish this learning experience for all children.” - Margie (Parent)
What Our Nature Casa Program Offers
Immersing in Nature: Exploring nature boosts physical and mental well-being, fosters children’s appreciation of the environment, and nurtures cognitive development.
Child-Centric Education: Our curriculum is tailored to each child's unique needs and interests, ensuring they receive personalized attention and guidance.
Focus on Self-Awareness and Self-Discipline: Through hands-on learning experiences, children cultivate awareness, self-discipline, and a sense of responsibility for themselves and their environment, laying a strong foundation for their future.
Nurturing Creativity: Our classrooms and outdoor space are designed to inspire creativity, encouraging children to think outside the box and express themselves freely. Incorporating French circles, songs and lessons. Introducing songs, rhythms and a variety of musical instruments.
Building Internal Strengths: Integrating nature with Montessori education helps build internal strengths such as resilience, empathy, and problem-solving skills, preparing children to navigate life's challenges with confidence.
Fostering Respect for the Land and Stewardship: Weekly hikes and a return to space encourage children’s curiosity and inquisitive nature and promote a sense of awareness and safety in nature. Noticing nature's changing rhythms, seasons, and connectivity facilitates a natural feeling of wanting to care for this space that they love. Honouring, respecting and stewardship begin here.
“The child who has felt a strong love for his surroundings and for all living creatures, who has discovered joy and enthusiasm in work, gives us reason to hope that humanity can develop in a new direction.” - Dr. Maria Montessori
Why Invest in the Early Years?
This is the period of most significant development, including rapid brain development, language acquisition, motor skills, and socio-emotional development. Children develop at an almost effortless pace.
During this sensitive period, from 3 to 6 years old, children's physical, mental, and emotional capacities are most receptive. Growth and learning are uncomplicated in an environments of possibilities.
Nurturing children to become the people they are to be, in a safe, encouraging, respectful, and prepared environment encourages development to happen naturally at the opportune time for each individual.
Life skills, values, independence, effective communication, resiliency, determination, love of learning, and respect for peace, self, and others are the foundations for all other life-long developmental skills.
Children are capable and yearn for independence and purposeful activity, so empowering them now instills the skills they need to succeed in life.
The Value in Committing to a Three-year Learning Cycle
When children feel content, nurtured, safe, and curious in a familiar space with warm, kind, experienced guides.
They will experience:
an introductory, experiential and confidence-building year
an exploratory year of acquiring extended knowledge and skill
a final year of culmination, refinement, and confidently mentoring others.
Similar to the practical and emotional experience of living as part of a family, each year corresponds to the placement in a family: youngest, middle and eldest.
The mixed-age program allows younger children to look up to older children who can demonstrate their knowledge and empathy by sharing with younger children.
Remaining in the same space with familiar people eliminates the weeks to months of adjustment in the second and third year. Learning continues seamlessly year after year with little interruption.
